A monkey's wedding
I woke up to the sound of welcome rain this morning. The ground looked saturated. It was nice to see it not looking dry and crispy for a change.
There was a moment where the sun was shining while it was raining. When I was growing up, we used to call this phenomenon, "a monkey's wedding". Around the world other cultures have phrases to describe it too.
I find it interesting how the cause and effect of an action is noted in folklore. Monkeys getting married causes the sun to shine as it rains.
In modern day, perhaps we have a similar phenomenon: burning fossil fuels and deforestation increases CO2 emissions.
I wonder what cute saying we will pass down to our children about this.
